Maha Shivaratri, a revered Hindu festival, celebrates Lord Shiva—the cosmic dancer, destroyer of ignorance, and embodiment of divine energy. Maha Shivaratri occurs on the fourteenth day of the first half (Krishna Chaturdashi) of the lunar month of Phalguna (February–March). The festival marks the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. On this night, Lord Shiva defeated Tripurasura—the demon of ignorance and ego. It symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness. On this day devotees fast, pray, and meditate, seeking Shiva’s blessings. It’s a time for introspection and overcoming life’s challenges. Maha Shivaratri celebrates the convergence of Shiva (pure consciousness) and Shakti (divine energy). It’s a reminder that Shiva resides not only outside but within us—uniting ourselves with the One Self.
